This article will walk you through the process of completing the initial setup for the DR2000 and DR2500/DR1500 (Costco version) uAttend timeclocks (Initial Power up, LAN Connection, WIFI Connection, Check for Updates, Pair with an Account, Set Timezone and Admin access passcodes).

Initial Power up

It is recommended to complete the setup process before mounting the device, using a LAN (ethernet cable) connection directly to the router.  After the initial setup is complete, you can switch to a WIFI connection and mount the timeclock to a wall.

1. Power on the device by plugging the AC adapter.  This splash screen should be briefly displayed on the screen.

2. When the Welcome screen is displayed, press the Get Started button to begin the setup process.

3. Choose a method to connect to the internet. 

  • LAN is recommended for the initial setup, but WIFI can also be used.  If issues are encountered using WIFI, it is strongly suggested to use the LAN connection to complete the initial setup.  You can switch to WIFI after the setup is complete.

LAN Connection Method

1. Tap the LAN connection method.

  • After choosing LAN, the device will attempt to establish a connection.

  • If it is not successful, the device will display one of the following error messages. 
    • Address the error, as described below, and tap the Try Again button. You can tap the Advanced Settings button to view the device's MAC address, toggle between DHCP and Static IP mode to configure the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS servers used by the device.

    • Cannot Connect to Internal Network
      • Make sure the ethernet cable is functional.
      • Make sure the network is not blocking access.
      • Make sure the device is whitelisted with any firewalls, security, or filtering rules.

    • Cannot Connect to uAttend Server
      • Make sure the network is not using port randomization.
      • Make sure the network is not blocking access.
      • Make sure our servers are whitelisted with any firewalls, security, or filtering rules.

    • No Response from DHCP Server
      • Make sure the network is configured to use DHCP to assign connected devices an IP address.
      • Make sure the network is not blocking access.
      • Assign and configure a static IP address.

    • Cannot Locate uAttend Server Using DNS
      • Make sure the network is configured with a DNS server.
      • Try configuring the device to use google DNS instead of the default for the network.

    • Cannot Access the Internet
      • Make sure the network has a stable internet connection.
      • Make sure the network is not blocking access.
      • Make sure our servers are whitelisted with any firewalls, security, or filtering rules.
    • If the issue persists, contact support.

  • If it is successful, the device will display a LAN Connected message.  

2. Press the Next button to proceed with the setup.

WIFI Connection Method

1. Tap the WIFI connection method.

  • After choosing WIFI, the device will attempt to search for nearby networks.

2. Locate and tap on the SSID associated with your network from the displayed list.

3. When prompted, use the on-screen keyboard to enter your WIFI password.

4. Press the icon on the bottom right of the keyboard to hide the on-screen keyboard.


5. Press the Next button.

      • If your network does not appear on the list (hidden network), tap the Add Network button to manually enter the network information.

 1. Enter the SSID for the Network Name.

3. Select the Security type used on your network (This information can be provided by your network administrator).

4. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter your WIFI password.

5. Press the icon on the bottom right of the keyboard to hide the on-screen keyboard.

6. Press the Next button.

  • The device will attempt to establish a connection.

      • If it is not successful, the device will display one of the following error messages.

    • Network not Available
      • Make sure the entered SSID is correct.
      • Make sure the network is broadcasting on 2.4G.  The device is not compatible with 5G.
      • Make sure the network is using WEP, WPA, or WPA2 security encryption.

      • Make sure the entered password is correct.
      • Make sure the network is not blocking access.
      • Make sure the device is whitelisted with any firewalls, security, or filtering rules.

    • Cannot Connect to uAttend Server
      • Make sure the network is not using port randomization.

    • No Response from DHCP Server

      • Make sure the network has a stable internet connection.
      • Make sure the network is not blocking access.
      • Make sure our servers are whitelisted with any firewalls, security, or filtering rules.
    • If the issue persists, contact support.

  • If it is successful, the device will display a WIFI Connected message. 

6. Press the Next button to proceed with the setup.

Check for Updates

After a network connection is successfully established, the device will check for updates.

  • If no updates are available, the device will display a Software is up to Date message.

  • If an update is available, the device will attempt to download and install it.

    • If it is not successful, the device will display a Software Update was Unsuccessful error messages. 


      • Make sure the network has a stable internet connection, use the LAN connection method, and press the Try Again button or press the Next button to proceed with the setup and update later.

Pair with an Account

1. When prompted, use the on-screen keyboard to enter the Company ID associated with your account.

  • The company ID is displayed next to the Company name in the upper right corner of the cloud portal.

2. Press the icon on the bottom right of the keyboard to hide the on-screen keyboard.

3. Press the Next button.

  • An email with a verification code will be sent to all the active administrators on the account. Press the Enter Code button.

5.  You can press the Resend Code button if you needed to add an admin/email address to the cloud portal, to resend the code.

6. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter the verification code.  Press the icon on the bottom right of the keyboard to hide the on-screen keyboard.

7. Press the Next button.

The device will attempt to locate the account associated with the entered Company ID.

  • If it is successful, the device will display an Account Found message with the Company name.

  • If it is not successful, the device will display the Account Not Found error messages. 
    • Make sure the network has a stable internet connection and use the LAN connection method and try again.

8. Confirm the Company Name is correct and press the Next button to proceed with the setup.

 

Timezone and Menu Access Codes

1. When prompted, select the time zone for the device from the displayed list.

You will then be prompted to enter a passcode for accessing the device’s admin menu.

2. Enter a 5-digit code and press the Next button.

  • You cannot use 53178 as an admin passcode.

  • The device will display a Setup Complete message on the screen.

3. Press the Done button to complete the initial setup.

4. Enter the passcode 31468912 to be prompted to enter a passcode for accessing the device’s super admin menu.

5. Enter an 8-digit code and press the Next button

  • You cannot use 31468912 as a super admin passcode.
